I bought the Kodiak 6014 tent. I did a lot of research and really liked this tent.. I have been using canvas tents for a long time on Elk hunting trips in Colorado… I currently own a 20x16 outfitter tent… I wanted a canvas tent that I could use on local camping trips with my family.. I am very happy with the Kodiak tent… They are very well built and easy to put up.. I used the Kodiak on our local Deer hunting trip and on a family trip that rained for two days in a roll… No water leaks and held up to the winds…
When I ordered the tent my intentions were to use it on our family camping trip on Thanksgiving weekend.. I placed the order about a month before the trip only to find out they were on back order and would most likely not arrive on time…
I called your company and explained my situation to KIM. She went out of her way to find me a tent and had it delivered at my door steps before I could even thank her… Your company’s customer service was awesome!! I have recommend your company to numerous people already.. The Kodiak is a head turner, I had people walking by camp asking to see it and wanting information on where and how much it cost me…
Thanks for your good service..

Choosing the Right Size Family Tent
When it comes to the size of the tent, it is very important to select the right size for comfort and cost. Here are a few tips on how to choose the right tent to assure maximum comfort, ultimately to get the most out of your dollar.
Once you have determined which brand of tent you want to purchase it's always a good idea to buy the next size or two larger to allow for additional space for sleeping and storage needs. For example, as a family of 4 when shopping for a tent keep in mind that a "4 person tent" will only fit 4 sleeping bags side by side, leaving you no room for gear let alone room to move around comfortably.
What type of tent best fits your needs:
Cabin Tents
Cabin tents usually have a rectangle floor and walls tend to be more vertical providing easier access and mobility. Usually available in different sizes ranging from a 4 person to 8 person models. Cabin tents are perfect for families with small children allowing you to be close at all times.
Two Room Tent
A two room family camping tent allows you a few more options then the one room cabin tent. If you have children that are older you can let them have their own space providing more privacy. Another option is to have one side as a sleeping area and another room for gear storage. You can also place a table and chairs in the other room as a place for playing games with family and friends in the event the weather becomes unfavorable.
Three Room Tent
Three room large family camping tents combine comfort and functionality under one roof, providing more options than just about any other tents on the market today. Whether your looking for privacy or extra space, the center room is ideal for gear storage or for relaxing.

Family Tent Camping Customer Experience
Good morning,
I will most certainly share my purchasing experience with FamilyTentCamping.com. In preparation for an upcoming trip, my wife and I decided our 15 year old tent had seen its last days on the campgrounds. I took on an exhaustive online tent search to find a family tent that slept at least 6, was durable for 3 season camping, and was reasonable easy to set up. What I noticed is that I kept ending up at FamilyTentCamping.com. We ended up liking the 8 person Pine View Turbo Tent made by Black Pine Sports. The next challenge was that I had taken so long to pick out the tent, that our camping trip to the beach was 5 days away, and I was finishing the research on a late Saturday afternoon! I called FamilyTentCamping.com to find out how bad the shipping charges were going to be, and being late in the day on a Saturday I got the answering machine and left a message thinking I would hear back from someone on Monday. To my absolute surprise and elation, I received a phone call back the same day from a woman on her cell phone while she was out with her family! Not only did she answer all of my questions related to the construction of the tent, she also assured me that the tent was in stock and that normal shipping times would get the tent to me the day before I needed to leave. Now that is customer service! Needless to say I went right back to FamiliyTentCamping.com and ordered the tent without a second thought, and the tent arrived right when it needed to. The camping trip was a huge success with 7 additional families, and the tent worked like a champ. Exactly as described on the website… easy to setup, slept everyone comfortably, and stood up to the elements.
FamilyTentCamping.com gets it. They properly inform their customer of all the options and make the information easily accessible on the website. In addition, there was a pleasant and KNOWLEGABLE person on the other end of the phone when needed to back up what is online. They get what customer service is supposed to be and what a lot of us have forgotten in this era of WalMart shopping. These guys have my business, and will be ecstatically recommended to anyone I know needing camping equipment.

Maintaining your OzTent RV - Using Guy Ropes
With the camping season upon us it is time to take advantage of the great weather, "your equipment is only as good as it has been maintained" is a wise saying when it comes to camping with your OzTent, or any other gear you are relying on for maximum performance and comfort. The OzTent frame is the heartbeat of the quick set up design. Follow these steps for continued performance all season long.
Maintaining & Proper use of Guy Ropes:
* Once your OzTent RV has been erected, it is recommended to stabilize your OzTent to reduce unnecessary seam and frame damage during stormy or windy conditions. With the convenient storage pockets located at each corner provides quick and easy access.
* After long periods of continued use the nylon rope fibers will begin to "stretch" resulting in loose frays to surface causing the guy rope to weaken, to maintain proper performance it is a good idea to clip off the "frayed" areas and keeping the ropes & storage pockets free of dirt & debris particles that work there way into the rope fibers resulting in premature wear.
* For best results when staking out guy ropes, the recommended distance away from the corner base of the tent is 3' - 4' for best results, if space is limited go out as far as surroundings will allow.
* Another key factor when using guy ropes is the "stakes" which the ropes anchor to, for best results drive the stakes in at a 45 degree angle away from tent to keep the stakes from pulling out when guy ropes are stressed.

Maintaining your OzTent RV Tent - OzTent RV Frame
Now that you have purchased your OzTent and continue to enjoy the convenience of a Hassle Free Camping lifestyle, in this series you will discover tips on how to maintain your OzTent for many years to come.
Maintaining your OzTent Frame:
* Once your OzTent RV has been erected, make sure you attach the velcro tabs provided on the sides of the tent just above & below the slider arm to keep from extending in the event of windy conditions.
*All other velcro fasteners should remain attached to frame at various points of the OzTent RV.
* Periodically wipe down the frame with a slightly damp cloth to keep debris and dust from building up. This will allow the slider mechanisms to operate smoothly and prevent dust build up on the inner walls of your OzTent.
* Periodically Spray a "dry" silicone based lubricant inside the slider tracks to allow for smooth operation. It is not advisable to use an "oil" based lubricant, this will attract dust and also cause stains and residue on the inside walls of your OzTent.

Testimonial: Family Tent Camping Experience
Family Tent Campers,
Randy, I’m happy to help here. I purchased a Kodiak Canvas tent from you in September in preparation for an outdoor venture in Northwestern California. Frankly, I had been looking for some time for a tent to replace another popular brand with the typical nylon/polyester construction and low center line height. I knew I wanted something that was tough, had sufficient height to allow for standing up in the tent, and could function outside the average camp ground setting. The idea of a solid, well built and easy to “put up” canvas tent seemed to be the logical choice. I found the answer at your store with your Kodiak Canvas Tent products. I used it in September in Northern California and the product is as advertised. Well built, easy to assemble and easily withstands the elements at high altitude. It’s immediately become a standard check off item for our group and it will be accompanying us on our next outdoor excursion to Idaho’s Salmon River country in November.
Service from Family Tent was exceptional. I requested a slight modification and they happily contacted the manufacturer and made it happen. One last comment! Your estimates of set-up time are too conservative. Once you’ve learned the set up procedure the tent can be assembled in less than 10 minutes in less than ideal circumstances. Great product and “yes”, I’d highly recommend.

Maintaining Your OzTent
With the camping season upon us it is time to take advantage of the great weather, "your equipment is only as good as it has been maintained" is a wise saying when it comes to camping with your OzTent, or any other gear you are relying on for maximum performance and comfort. The OzTent frame is the heartbeat of the quick set up design. Follow these steps for continued performance all season long.
Maintaining & Proper use of Guy Ropes:
* Once your OzTent RV has been erected, it is recommended to stabilize your OzTent to reduce unecessary seam and frame damage during stormy or windy conditions.

Picking the Perfect Campsite
Camping is a great way to enjoy the great outdoors with family & friends, whether your a seasoned camper or just getting started, here are a few key tips to consider when choosing a campsite.
* A good idea to find the best site to fit your needs would be to take a drive around the park and check out whats available, keep in mind of what camping needs to keep in mind, bathroom/shower house location is a plus, for convenience.
* Always arrive before dark, the best sites are usually taken by later in the day.
* When it comes to garbage containment, it's always good to not camp next to a dumpster, especially during a holiday weekend when the park can be extremely busy meaning there will be a lot of camp food scraps that will become rather "smelly" after a few hot days.. Find a tree that is upwind to tie up your garbage, this also helps to keep critters out.
* Avoid setting up camp in a high grassy area, makes a great insect haven.
* When camping always keep in mind how weather can make a difference in the outcome of your safety, Get the best protection from lightning by camping near a dense grouping of trees, all the same height in a low area away from water is always a good idea.
* and last but not least become familiar with identifying poison ivy and poison oak, when in doubt avoid "leaves of 3"
Following these simple guidelines will assure a safe and enjoyable camping trip.

Customer Testimonial : OzTent RV Purchase
Hi Randy and Kim,
I’ve meant to send this sooner actually. The whole process of purchasing The Oztent IV really was a great experience. I have been in customer service for 30 years. Your customer support was top notch. All questions were answered honestly and quickly based on Kim’s personal experience. Everything Kim promised was delivered on and the tent arrived within a couple of days. I immediately unpacked the tent which was in perfect condition. Set up on my first time was a little less than 2 minutes as I was being careful and looking at the internal framework. I loved the details such as pockets with the peg ropes attached so I can’t lose them. After hauling in my cots and checking out the best layout I took the tent down and repacked it in its bag. All went smoothly and easily. Honestly, I’d forgotten the feeling of laying in a tent and just looking around and thinking, watching late afternoon turn into evening …My wife came out to make sure I was all right! Ventilation was excellent, good visibility to all areas around the tent. It was like being a kid again!
That weekend we strapped the tent to the roof rack on my Honda Element for a 3 day stay in western Massachusetts to attend a Wilco concert with friends who used a borrowed pop up trailer camper. We all stayed in a state owned campground a mile from the concert site. This time my setup was 45 seconds, bringing chuckles from my friends as the tent was erected immediately. We pegged it out and moved in…nightly stays were comfortable and I was happy that the rain held off until the last day of the concert. It rained heavily that afternoon and into the early morning. I mean heavy rain. We were cozy and dry, no water issues whatsoever. We packed that morning, the tent was wet when I put it away, but when I got home I set up in the sun and it dried quickly. Now it’s bagged and stored, ready for my next trip.
Thanks again to Kim for her professional assistance in this purchase. She made a considerable purchase a little less intimidating. This is not an inexpensive tent, but I consider it worth every cent, the craftsmanship is excellent, the design is well thought out and the details are surprisingly thorough. I will certainly recommend you and your products when out there in the world!
Best regards,
Gary Young

Customer Testimonial : Turbo Tent Purchase
We can't say enough to express our satisfaction with our new Turbo Tent. It was easy to set up, and has all the room we will ever need ( 10 X 22) to enjoy the great outdoors. On the second day we had the Turbo Tent, I tripped and grabbed the rainfly pole, and bent it double. I called the company to buy a new pole, and they sent not one but two new poles without charging us even for shipping. Product support is very important to us, and we will definately look to Family Tent Camping for our future camping needs. Thanks Randy and Company for your superior service.

My Kodiak Canvas flex bow tent #6055 arrived yesterday as you promised. It arrived in perfect condition and in plenty of time for me to do a test setup before my upcoming trip. I want to thank you for your work on my order and making sure I did indeed receive the tent on time.
In a time when you here so much about the lack of customer service you and your company has proved to me that there are still companies that take the time to make sure their customers are taken care of and satisfied.
Again thank you and Family Tent Camping for the wonderful service. You can rest assured that I will recommend Family Tent Camping to anyone.
Sincerely,
Kerry S.

OzTent Customer Testimonial
Pictures from Wisconsin Dells. We took a trip to Wisconsin Dells on June 21-June 25, 2010. We own a teardrop trailer. Setting the tent next to the trailer using the "side awning" to shield the trailer from rain and the sun. We own the RV-2 with the "Standard side panels" and the "Deluxe Front Panel" Making a screen room so we can exit and enter the trailer.
The week we camped it rained and stormed almost every night. The tent performed perfectly! Nothing got wet, and the tent dried quickly.
Thank you for such a great product. We are planning on purchasing the Deluxe Side Panels in the future for more head room in the Screened area. We recommend your tent to all our friends and all who ask about it.
Thanks again
Michael and Jane

OzTent Customer Testimonial
Hi we recently purchased an oztent rv5 and it is absolutely amazing. We love it! and along with it also purchased the deluxe side panels, rain fly, and the front panel. In addition we want to buy another rv5, set of deluxe side panels, rain fly, two ground tarps, an awning connector and the extra large screen room. Thanks for selling such an awesome product my wife and I were able to fit a queen size bed a baby crib and our bags in the tent. It was so cozy and spacious. Simply said it is a great product we look forward to use a lifetime. The quality is beyond any tent we have seen and is well worth the money. Thank you!!!!!!

Choosing a Camping Tent
Choosing gear for the family does not have to be complicated, here are a few questions to ask yourself before buying:
* What size tent do I need? (allow 1-2 person larger than family for needed storage or living space)
* How many times a year are you planning on camping? ( whether your planning once or more than 3 times a year it is the cost of investment you may want to consider). If you pay for good quality gear you will benefit in the overall experience as well as your wallet.
* How will you transport your gear? Consider vehicle being used to transport gear to campsite, pack size will play an important role in decision.
* How much $$ are you looking to invest in gear? The saying "you pay for what you get" applies greatly, you may spend a little more for a better quality made tent, see our August tips & tricks issue "what to look for in a tent"

Easy Campfire Cookware Cleanup
Camp cooking over an open fire adds a unique and flavorful way to enjoy the camping experience
at its best.
To prevent soot build up on your cookware here's a helpful tip to keep your pots clean without having to wear your elbow and scrubber pads out, simply squeeze out a dime size amount of camp soap on a paper towel, rub the soap on the underside and sides of the cooking pot before you place over the fire. When its time to wash the dishes, clean up the utensils first leaving the pots that were used over fire for last, as you begin to wash off the soot you will notice how easy the cleanup is, leaving you more time to enjoy the outdoors. it is recommended to use a biodegradeable camp soap and dump the dirty water in a high grassy area away from your campsite, preventing critters from coming around and also is better for the enviroment.

New! Kodiak Canvas Cabin Tent #6133
The newly designed Kodiak deluxe 9 x 12 cabin tent has added some new great features that are a definate improvement over the older model #6129. The canvas remains the same Hydra-Shield technology, providing quicker drying and wicking of the water to eliminate water from entering the tent while touching the inside of the tent canvas. The awning portion of the tent can easily be rolled up when not needed, vs the #6129 that had to be set up regardless. The ridge pole was made larger to prevent roof sagging, eliminating stress points on the ends and reducing the risk of holding water on the roof. The model #6133 also has an available screen or wall enclosure that can easily be attached to the awning for privacy by simply zipping up the windows or with full screen enclosure option, providing maximum ventilation for a bug free enviroment. Also included with the optional screen or wall enclosure features storage pouches for easy access when needed.2 large zippered rear windows replaces the single plastic window for additional ventilation.

Great Places to Camp in the Midwest
Here is a helpful campground directory link that lists Illinois state campgrounds with available facilities for RV and tent camping, also included are some helpful tips for picking a good campsite. With spring not too far away, this would be a good time to check out the local parks nearby and make your reservations ahead of time for the best sites.
Tips for picking a good campsite:
1)A good idea to find the best site to fit your needs would be to take a drive around the park and check out whats available, keep in mind of what camping needs to keep in mind, bathroom/showerhouse location is a plus, for convenience.
2)Always arrive before dark, the best sites are usually taken by later in the day.
3)When it comes to garbage containment, it's always good to not camp next to a dumpster, especially during a holiday weekend when the park can be extremely busy meaning there will be a lot of camp food scraps that will become rather "smelly" after a few hot days.. Find a tree that is upwind to tie up your garbage, this also helps to keep critters out.
4)Avoid setting up camp in a high grassy area, makes a great insect haven.
5)When camping always keep in mind how weather can make a difference in the outcome of your safety, Get the best protection from lightning by camping near a dense grouping of trees, all the same height in a low area away from water is always a good idea.
and last but not least become familiar with identifying poison ivy and poison oak, when in doubt avoid "leaves of 3".
Following these simple guidelines will assure a safe and enjoyable camping trip.

New Product - 30 Second OzTent
We are proud to announce our new line of 30 second tents tent from the land down under, Australian designed tent that sets up in less than 30 Seconds! goes down and packs away just as simple. These models resemble a baker style tent with it's slope design and large front entrance for easy access and travels easy on the top of a roof rack while offroading or when you are on the move and don't have the time to spend setting up your camp for each area, simplicity is the major component when it comes to its revolutionary aluminum sliding track frame design and available OzTent accessories is what sets this tent apart from the rest. Double stitched heat taped seams, waterproof ripstop poly-cotton canvas and a heavy duty PVC bathtub floor for waterproof protection, guaranteed.
Benefits of a ground sheet for your camping tent
* Adding a ground sheet to your camping gear will provide additional protection for your tent floor in the event there was a sharp object underneath that could possibly cut through the tent floor, it is cheaper to dispose of a ground sheet than to repair or replace your tent.
* The ground sheet provides a barrier between your tent and the ground to assist in easier & faster tent clean up when time to pack up, also by having the ground sheet properly fitted under tent allows for moisture & rain to remain under the ground sheet and not in your living space. The recommended fit should be approx 1” spacing around the outside perimeter of the tent and the ground sheet to allowing run off from the tent to travel under and not settle on top of the ground sheet.
